Arrest of Jordanians returning from Kenya

The governor of the capital, Yasser Al-Adwan, decided to arrest two Jordanians who were arrested in Kenya for violating the regulations and instructions there.

And the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said earlier, that most of the people who were arrested for violating Kenyan laws and regulations and the conditions of the tourist entry visa since last Friday, left Nairobi at dawn on Friday towards Amman via Cairo airport transit, and they are expected to arrive this evening in Amman, while only one person remains in Nairobi and the embassy is making arrangements for his return.

The ministry’s spokesman, Ambassador Haitham Abu Al-Ful, said that the Kenyan immigration authorities in Mombasa contacted the Jordanian embassy in Nairobi last Friday, about the arrest of a number of people who said they were selling simple things, and the authorities there investigated them on charges of begging.

He added that the Jordanian embassy in Nairobi immediately contacted the competent Kenyan authorities to find out the details, the truth of the matter and the results of the investigations. She provided the Ministry’s Operations Center daily with the results of her follow-ups and contacts for their return to Jordan.

Abu Al-Ful stated that the embassy in Nairobi continued their departure from Mombasa on Thursday, towards the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, which is about 500 km from Mombasa, and the ambassador was in Nairobi at the airport to follow up on travel procedures and their return to the Kingdom.
