90 school projects in progress

Today, Saturday, the Minister of Public Works and Housing, Yahya Al-Kasabi, said that work is underway to implement 90 school buildings in various governorates of the Kingdom.

Al-Kasabi added that the ministry has handed over 75 projects to the Ministry of Education this year, distributed among integrated schools, classroom additions, sports facilities, and kindergartens.

In a press statement, he stressed that the work on school projects is carried out according to the highest engineering standards adopted globally, to improve the educational process, improve it, and solve the problem of overcrowding in schools.

He pointed out that, during the last period, work on the implementation of 4 new schools, funded by the German Construction Bank, was started: Hawara and Hakama in Irbid, Al-Nahda in Ramtha, and the Officers neighborhood in Mafraq.

Al-Kasabi indicated that last Thursday, bids for the construction of 5 out of 16 schools funded by a loan from the Saudi Fund for Development were referred in different regions of the Kingdom, stressing that work is underway to complete the procedures for bidding for the implementation of 11 other schools.

And he indicated that the five schools that were tendered are: Al-Darbyat Elementary Mixed School in Amman, Beit Ras Elementary School for Boys in Irbid, Al-Hashemiyah Elementary Mixed School in Ajloun, Iskan Al-Marj Elementary Mixed Elementary in Karak, and Rumaymeen Secondary School for Boys in Al-Balqa.

Al-Kasabi stressed that, during the coming period, work will be completed on a number of school projects; To operate them according to the rules, and start implementing projects to establish other schools, stressing that the work on school projects is carried out according to the highest engineering standards followed globally.

He indicated that the school projects aim to provide educational opportunities within the best international standards, dispense with rented schools, reduce the percentage of double-shift schools, and meet the need for schools in densely populated areas.
