Parliamentary sources revealed to Al-Bawsala that efforts are being made to quickly pass the controversial Child Rights Bill, during the existing special session.

The sources said that “the draft law was added as an appendix to the existing fifth session,” after the amendments made by the Parliamentary Committee to it.

Meanwhile, the Parliamentary Reform Bloc will meet on Saturday, to discuss the amendments made by the Joint Parliamentary Committee to the draft law.

Al-Bawsala Agency obtained a copy of the amendments made by the Joint Parliamentary Committee to the Child Rights Bill.

Sources told Al-Bawsala that the committee’s meetings were held without announcing specific dates.

The joint committee approved the articles of the law in a form described as “rapid” without consulting experts and specialists, despite the state of controversy raised by the law.

The Child Rights Bill sparked widespread popular and political controversy amid accusations of attempts to pass articles that violate the traditions and customs of society.
