Meteorologist Raed Al-Khattab said that the heat wave that begins on Saturday is the longest this summer, and not the longest in years.
The director of operations at the Arab Weather website, Osama Al-Tarifi, said that the Kingdom is affected by a heat wave that begins on Saturday, and it will be the longest during this summer, and it is coming from the Arabian Peninsula starting on Saturday.
Al-Khattab explained that the heat wave continues until the first days of September, which is a summer time period and it is normal for high temperatures that require sun protection during the afternoon and a lot of fluid intake.
Al-Tarifi expected the impact of the wave to range from 7 to 10 days, while Al-Khattab expected the wave to continue for about a week or 8 days.
Al-Tarifi said that the temperatures will be total in all Jordanian cities and regions at the end of the thirties and touch the forties, on a daily basis, starting on Sunday, while the weather will be very hot in the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, Aqaba and desert areas, so that it may reach 45 degrees Celsius in those areas.
Al-Tarifi said that the peak of the heat wave is not yet clear, but it seems that the wave may include several peaks, but Al-Khattab expected the peak to be on Sunday and Monday.
Regarding temperature measurement, Al-Khattab said that the temperatures measured are air temperatures at a height of two meters in shaded places.
