The Ministry of Agriculture said that agricultural crops are affected by the prevailing weather; Therefore, it needs special treatment in terms of irrigation, fertilization and pest control methods in order to get out with the least possible damage as a result of being affected by heat stress.
In a statement today, Saturday, the ministry called for fertilizing agricultural crops at high temperatures with nitrates instead of urea or ammonium sulfate so that plants are more able to withstand heat stress, in addition to spraying crops with calcium and potassium to improve the condition of plants and increase their tolerance to harsh and extreme conditions. .
The ministry stressed that spraying crops with insecticides during the current period is important to start the activity of most harmful insects, such as aphids, whiteflies, mites, and Tuta Absoluta, as well as irrigating plants at early times.
The ministry pointed out the necessity of coating the stems of fruit trees with Bordeaux mixture lime (lime + copper sulfate), which reduces the damage of solar rays and avoids cracking the outer layer of the stems of plants, while giving olive trees and those fruitful the appropriate supplementary irrigation.
