The Compass – The head of the Public Car Owners Syndicate, Ahmed Abu Haidar, renewed the public vehicle sector’s rejection of the value and form of support announced by the Public Transport Regulatory Authority, weeks ago.

Speaking to Hayat FM radio, Abu Haidar added that subsidizing 1.70 piasters per day is not enough for a driver who spends 12 working hours.

Abu Haidar detailed the equation for the costs of the taxi driver, saying that 20 dinars is a replacement (guarantee) for the vehicle and 25 dinars is a fuel allowance as a daily expense, as the driver is left with no more than 6 or 7 dinars per day.

He stressed that the driver’s profit is not sufficient to support any family under the weight of high prices, stressing that the union demands that the driver support directly.

The Public Transport Regulatory Authority has allocated an amount of 5 million dinars to support vehicle operators operating in the public transport sector (buses, buses, taxis, service), and the support will be delivered within the bases that depend on operational costs, since they vary from large buses to small vehicles, and this will be done Through a clear mechanism that relies on distributing fuel exchange cards from any gas station, this method was chosen to ensure the delivery of support to its eligible operators, noting that the support is not cash support, but cards for small vehicles and cash for large buses.

The authority indicated that buses that travel a distance of more than 150 kilometers will receive a cash subsidy of 200 dinars per month for a period of 6 months, equivalent to 1,200 dinars in total value. the distance you travel.

The Director General of the Land Transport Regulatory Authority stated that a vehicle number will be dealt with either by authorization of the driver from the vehicle owner or to review the latter personally, and support cards will be distributed in two installments for every 3 months at once, and regarding the mechanism for obtaining the card, it will be agreed upon during a meeting with Company managers either through the offices of the Land Transport Authority or adopting the easiest way for operators, stressing that things will be appropriate and satisfactory for public transport operators.
