Commenting on the fifth article of the law regulating the investment environment, MP Yellal Freihat said, “I refrain myself from approving an article that contains usury, even if I call it the term “interest.”

Article 5 of the Law Regulating the Investment Environment stipulates that no ownership or any investment or part of it may be acquired unless the ownership is expropriated in accordance with the law and for a general, specific and legitimate purpose in a non-discriminatory manner, in return for paying fair compensation to the investor.

Paragraph B of the law stipulates that when paying compensation, it should be in accordance with 3 items, namely that it be paid in one payment in Jordanian dinars or in a convertible currency, and the second item must be equal to the fair market value of the assets concerned before the decision to expropriate is taken, and the third item that “includes The interest rate is equivalent to the one-night guaranteed financing.
