The necessity of integrating the implementation of the national agricultural plan with the food security plan

King Abdullah II was briefed on the progress of work on the national plan for sustainable agriculture for the years (2022-2025), during a meeting held at Al Husseiniya Palace today, Sunday.
During the meeting, which was attended by Prime Minister Dr. Bishr Al-Khasawneh, the King called on the government to speed up the implementation of the plan’s axes, which include benefiting from state lands for agricultural projects.
He stressed the importance of continuous communication with citizens in various regions and placing them in the image of agricultural projects in their regions, to have a role in their success and sustainability for the development of their communities.
During the meeting, which was held out of his keenness to periodically follow up the progress of work to develop this vital sector, the king pointed to the need to integrate the implementation of the national plan for agriculture with the food security plan, stressing the importance of having a clear vision about the most important requirements for enhancing food security, to provide support necessary for her.
In turn, the Prime Minister stressed that the Supreme Council for Food Security, whose system was recently approved, will have an important executive role, providing the government with predictive studies related to food security and agriculture.
Al-Khasawneh indicated that the council will be in partnership with the private sector and relevant state institutions.
The Minister of Agriculture, Eng. Khaled Al-Hunaifat, reviewed the most prominent achievements of the national plan for sustainable agriculture during the first half of this year, which included 13 projects out of 15 projects, as two projects were delayed due to seasonal technical reasons.
According to Al Hanifat, the value of private sector investment in completed projects amounted to about 59 million dinars, providing 8,819 job opportunities and training 1,250.
The major projects that have been completed include the Al-Hammad and Al-Sarhan basins, the re-establishment of a number of stalled agricultural stations, the agricultural loan program, and the agricultural industries complex.
The meeting was attended by Head of the Royal Hashemite Court Youssef Hassan Al-Issawi, and Director of the King’s Office, Dr. Jaafar Hassan.
