The families of a group of students, who are all relatives, were forced to hold a joint group party, to celebrate the results of high school, in one of the governorates, in an effort to reduce the costs of the celebration, which has become expensive for families, in light of the economic situation in the country.

The announcement of the results of the Tawjihi came after the occasion of Eid al-Adha, which is a religious occasion where families usually allocate a share of the monthly income to meet their requirements.

One of the organizers of the group party says that the high prices are the reason for the idea of holding a group party to distribute the cost to all families, which reduces the burden, as the prices of sweets and the rest of the requirements for holding the party have increased.

He added to Al-Basala that “the Jordanian family has become burdened in light of the high cost of living, on top of that, basic commodities and foodstuffs, and the high prices of energy and fuel, all of these are reasons to think about distributing the costs of any social occasion.”

The government says that the citizen has to adapt to the living reality in light of the global rise in food commodity prices and the rise in fuel prices as a result of several circumstances, including the repercussions of the Ukrainian-Russian war.

In light of this state of suffering, many families are forced to borrow to cover basic needs, amid a very difficult living reality, amid calls for the government and official bodies to look prudently at the suffering experienced by the citizen.

A few months ago, Jordanians complained about the high prices of vegetables and fruits, the high prices of basic foodstuffs, the high prices of meat and poultry, as well as the high costs of energy, electricity and fuel.

At the time, Prime Minister Bishr Al-Khasawneh stated that the government will be firm and will not tolerate those who exaggerate prices, especially merchants.

In the latest waves of high prices, factory dairy prices witnessed a significant increase, as consumer protection received hundreds of complaints about the exaggerated rise in factory dairy prices without taking into account the difficult economic conditions experienced by citizens, where the rates of increase ranged between 7%-15%.

The association confirmed in a statement that “the dairy factories’ agreement to raise the prices of their products is a clear violation of the competition law and the prevention of monopoly of the Competition and Anti-Monopoly Directorate of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. That is because the factories’ agreement to raise the prices of their products at the same time, and even if the rates of rise are different from one factory to another, this matter is considered a monopoly by a few by the dairy-producing factories, as they made a tacit agreement among themselves to raise the prices of their products, which is not permitted by law.

Under these circumstances, many families have limited the celebration of high school results to a specific number of relatives without additional costs, in an effort to confront the stressful rise in prices, and to adapt to a living reality that imposes and necessitates a new reality for families.
