Parliamentary sources said, on Thursday, that the report of a power outage during the snow storm last winter held the responsibility for the outages that occurred to the Jordanian Electricity Company.

The report indicated, according to parliamentary sources, who told “The Kingdom” that the intertwining of trees with wires was the main reason for the damage to the network and the power outage.

The report also recommended that the Ministry of Agriculture authorize the Jordan Electricity Company to cut trees that interfere with network lines.

Jordan was exposed to an air depression that led to snowfall last January; It caused a power outage for several days.

Prime Minister Bishr Al-Khasawneh said last January that power cuts for some citizens for long hours, sometimes up to 36 hours, “is something we do not accept for citizens, just as we do not accept it for ourselves.”

Last January, the Council of Ministers, headed by Prime Minister Bishr Al-Khasawneh, assigned the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, to immediately form an independent investigation committee. To find out the details of the power outage problem.

The Council of Ministers also decided in the same session to assign a consulting company to assess the status of the electrical network in various regions of the Kingdom, especially in the capital, Amman, and to work on updating it, and setting standards for evaluating the performance of electricity distribution companies so that they are compatible with international standards. To be held accountable in accordance with this performance, and in accordance with the standards agreed upon.
