The Ministry of Public Works and Housing said that work to improve and rehabilitate Al-Salt/Al-Ardah Road from Al-Subaihi Intersection to Al-Ardah Intersection will start next week.

The ministry added, in a press release issued by the Media and Communication Unit, that work will be done to secure service routes within the project; To serve the local community and divert the main traffic as a first stage on the main roads of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, through the Aira – Al Karama road.

She indicated that work is underway in coordination with the Maadi Municipality to prepare another alternative diversion through Hamrat Al-Sahn Road, and its work will be completed in conjunction with the completion of the implementation of works at the beginning of the project, with a length of 1.2 km, which includes the construction of retaining walls, re-expanding and implementing road lanes with lighting works. And the separation with concrete barriers, because it will be linked with the alternative detour upon its completion, noting that the Minister of Public Works, Engineer Yahya Al-Kasabi, conducted a field tour last week of the Hamra Al-Sahn shunt site, during which he met the mayor of Maadi Faisal Al-Nuaimat and the concerned parties.

She noted that the closure and traffic diversion details will be announced in detail later, as the ministry has prepared and rehabilitated the road as a traffic diversion and made the necessary maintenance for it and provided it with all traffic safety elements.

She pointed out that the works in the project include the rehabilitation of the road linking Al-Subaihi Intersection and Al-Ardah Intersection to become four lanes separated by concrete barriers (New Jersey). It is expected that all works on the project will be completed within 18 months from the date of implementation.

The ministry confirmed that the project is receiving close follow-up from the Minister of Public Works and Housing, who has started during the last period to hold several meetings with partners; To overcome the obstacles that were facing the progress of the work of the project, indicating that those involved in the project were instructed to provide the Ministry with any obstacle facing the progress of the work after the start of implementation; To be resolved immediately in coordination with all parties.

It is noteworthy that the project for the implementation of the Al-Salt-Al-Ardah road is funded by a generous grant from the People’s Republic of China and partially funded by the Treasury.
