A number of deputies began collecting signatures for a parliamentary memorandum calling on the government to withdraw the draft child rights law in order to preserve the national fabric and to contradict the system of values derived from Islamic Sharia, as described in the memorandum.
The deputies said in the memorandum: “We, the undersigned representatives, demand the Prime Minister to withdraw the law from the House of Representatives in order to preserve the national fabric, given the fear of the majority of Jordanian society about the negative social effects of some provisions of this law and its opposition to the system of values and morals of Jordanian society stemming from the teachings of the true Islamic religion.”
