The General Organization for Social Security revealed the most prominent features of the amendments to the Social Security Law.

The draft amendment to the Social Security Law will be presented to the Foundation’s board of directors at the end of August, in preparation for its constitutional approval stages, according to the Foundation’s legal advisor and media spokesperson, Shaman Majali.

Speaking to Jordan TV, today, Wednesday, Majali confirmed that a series of amendments to the Social Security Law will be published gradually, so that the insured and retirees can view them and know their rights that the institution intends to positively amend in their favor.

He added that the Corporation will, during the current month, publish the amendments to the Social Security Law successively, clarifying each amendment, who are the beneficiaries of it and its impact on the insured and retired.

He talked about the first amendment that affects a significant segment of retirees whose salaries are less than 200 dinars, indicating that these salaries are no longer acceptable to the institution, in light of the high prices and the low purchasing power of pension salaries.

“Once the law is enforced, all pensions that have been obtained for at least 3 years will be reviewed, as their pension salaries will be linked to the average wages for a previous year, so that it is not less than 35% of that average,” according to Al-Majali. .

He stressed that the equation and ratios that were set in the law primarily target retirees whose salaries are less than 200 dinars, “and they are about 18 thousand retirees, and the rate of increase they will receive is approximately 25 dinars, and therefore not a single retiree will remain whose salary is less than 200 dinars, and their salaries.” It will be subject to review on an annual basis, in line with the mentioned percentages and average wages.”

He stressed that the institution’s doors are open to receive any proposals related to amendments to the law, pointing to some amendments stemming from the suggestions received from the auditors of the institution’s field stations.
