Agriculture Minister Khaled Hanifat said on Wednesday that the ministry will use unmanned aerial vehicles next year to inspect the advanced holdings of certificates of origin medicine.

Hanifat explained that this mechanism will be reflected in the estimation of the real value of the produced quantities that he supported through the treasury.

He added that the ministry supports farmers to produce wheat and barley, noting that the purchase of these products exceeds the international price by several times.

The Ministry of Agriculture referred the grain production file issued by some agricultural directorates after checking these certificates by a committee assigned by the Minister of Agriculture and monitoring violations in these certificates.

Minister of Agriculture Khaled Al-Hanaifat said, in a statement on Wednesday, that the ministry, through the control procedures of the audit committees, and over the past months regarding the certificates of grain production issued by the directorates of agriculture for the year 2022, has been monitoring repeated violations and the presence of some lands that were used to issue more than one certificate for more than Beneficiary.

Al-Hanaifat explained that based on this information, verification and follow-up procedures were carried out over a period of months for this file, comparisons were made, and committees were formed in the work areas to compare certificates, quantities, spaces and necessary papers, and to visit those sites. It was found that there were violations of the mechanism for granting certificates of origin.

He pointed out that the specialized committees in the Irbid Agriculture Directorate seized fictitious possessions in certificates of origin for grain, which was estimated at 47.4% of the submitted area (50982 dunums), equivalent to 27 thousand dunums, to obtain fake certificates of origin that were not planted or produced and equal to 119 applicants out of 351 Applicants whose applications were rejected after making sure of cultivation within the submitted holdings.

Al-Hanaifat added that the expected value of the fictitious holdings is 1.6 million dinars.

He continued, “We have put in place control mechanisms for all files related to animal holdings through the comprehensive and hierarchical census of animal holdings next September, and court control mechanisms for granting certificates of origin for holdings of field crops, in order to stop any attempts to tamper and infringe on the rights of real farms and direct support to real estates and farms.”

The Minister of Agriculture directly followed the results of the work of the cadres of the Ministry of Agriculture in the Directorate of Agriculture in Irbid Governorate, the technical and field committees, and the process of controlling the granting of certificates of origin for grain for this season.

The statement stated that the grain crops, wheat and barley, are subsidized by the government to encourage their cultivation at more than double their world price. A ton of port wheat is bought at 420 dinars and 500 dinars for sowing, while port barley is bought at 370 dinars and 420 dinars per ton.
