The House of Representatives approved, in a legislative session on Wednesday, a bill amending the general sales tax law.

The council agreed to reduce tax refunds from 6 months to two months and collect them from the amount of the tax received instead of allocating provisions for it.

The reasons for the draft law came to contribute to reducing tax evasion and avoidance by filling the loopholes that some taxpayers may resort to and to address the problem of delay in refunding sales tax, so that it becomes refunded from the same tax that is collected instead of allocating allocations for it and in line with global practices of the concept of subjection Sales tax for goods and services through the acknowledgment of the principle of supply.

The Council said, through its agenda, that its legislative session will complete “discussing the agenda of the third session, starting from the decision of the Economy and Investment Committee, which includes a draft law amending the General Sales Tax Law for the year 2021.”

On the other hand, the Economy and Investment Committee will discuss the draft law regulating the investment environment for the year 2022 in the presence of the Securities Commission.

As for the Parliamentary Legal Committee, it will continue discussing and approving a law amending the Constitutional Court Law for the year 2022.

The Education and Youth Committee will discuss the appointment of scholarships from the Ministry of Education, the appointment of a teacher in the field of social studies, and the appointment of political science graduates to teach national education in schools. As well as raising the acceptance rate of teaching assistants in public universities and the technical position of the education directorates.

The Palestine Committee will meet with the Director General of the Palestinian Affairs Department and the Madaba Camp Services Committee. The Administrative Committee will discuss the decisions of the committee responsible for interviewing and appointing the heads of departments in the Amman Municipality.
