Representative Saleh Al-Armouti expected that the controversial Child Protection Bill, which is presented to the House of Representatives, would not be passed in the form contained in it, indicating the possibility of making amendments to the law.
Representative Armouti said in a statement to “Al Bawsala” that a meeting will be held with the Department of the Chief Justice, the Ifta Committee and specialists, to discuss the amendments to the law. As for the draft law to pass as stated, this is a great responsibility that the House of Representatives bears.
He explained that most of the deputies showed a very positive attitude in the initial reading of the bill, expressing his optimism about making amendments to the controversial law, even if pressures were exerted.
The MP also deplored what was stated by some writers who accused a current of “kidnapping” the House of Representatives, noting that these words are inflammatory and inappropriate, and contradict the principle of opinion and the other opinion, which is a healthy phenomenon and the decision-maker’s vote.
He criticized the accusation of deputies who opposed the draft law, as this is the right of the deputy who performs his real duty to improve legislation and oversight, and no one has the right to confiscate this right.
Al-Armouti added, “Our country is dear and precious and needs unity. Most segments of the Jordanian people criticized what was stated in the draft child protection law,” stressing that the Jordanian people are the reference and the source of authorities, and we do not want to tamper with our constitution, values and morals.
