In its session held today, 2/8/2022 in the House of Representatives, the Permanent Office reviewed the issue of the remuneration paid to the directors of the offices of Representatives, which amounted to two hundred dinars for each director and for a period of two months. This year.
Since the remuneration is disbursed from the remuneration clause in the Parliament’s budget, the Permanent Office would like to clarify the following:
1. There has never been an increase in the allowances of members of the House of Representatives, as this is an issue governed by the Jordanian constitution, as it is specified in the special item in the Council’s budget, which is part of the state’s general budget law for the fiscal year 2022 in force and which may not be exceeded permanently.
2. As a result of the work pressure experienced by those working with the representatives, in particular the directors of parliament’s offices, and especially the pressure of auditors during the parliament’s holiday, the permanent office decided, with its powers, to disburse an amount of two hundred dinars for a period of two months to each office manager for the months of June and July 2022 only, and the permanent office was in the last His meeting was held on 24/7/2022. This bonus was limited to the months of June and July.
3. The remuneration clause in the council’s budget is disbursed from it according to the powers granted to the president of the council and the permanent office in the state’s general budget law for the fiscal year 2022 in effect from the beginning of this fiscal year for the state, and no additional expenditures were requested from the government, and it is not permissible to request from the government Any excess expenditures as prescribed and monitored in the chapter on the National Assembly in the state budget for violating the provisions of the aforementioned state budget law.
4. All the false and incorrect news reported on some media and social networking sites is completely false about the increase in (MPs’ salaries), knowing that the representatives receive specific allocations in the budget allocated to the Council from the state’s general budget law, and they do not receive salaries as is the case The rest of the state employees, and the members of the Council are not considered employees, but rather they are elected representatives who receive non-retirement allowances, according to Constitutional Court Decision No. 2 of 2014.
The Permanent Office expresses its respect for all the opinions and jurisprudence that dealt with the false news that was circulated during the past few days.
The office affirms that the House of Representatives is aware of the extent of the economic and living pressures experienced by the Jordanian citizen as a result of high fuel prices and the spread of unemployment and poverty.
The office confirms that the Council today, in consultation with the government, is in the process of implementing economic legislation that contributes to creating a viable economic and investment environment, and working with the government to develop public administration in order to improve services provided to citizens through the modernization of the public sector, which was recently announced.
The Council affirms its absolute transparency in dealing with all media and many public issues in order to enhance the principle of partnership and national responsibility.
