Representative Saleh Al-Armouti warned of the danger of the amendments contained in the draft child protection law before the House of Representatives in its special session, indicating that some of the provisions contained in these amendments contradict the system of values ​​and morals of Jordanian society, and contradict the teachings of the true Islamic religion.

In a statement to Al-Basala, MP Al-Armouti said that the draft law had a negative impact on the Jordanian street, and the matter was not limited to one group without the other, as it touched a large segment of the people of this country, pointing out that it touched the system of values, morals, Sharia and teachings stemming from Islamic Sharia. We cannot ignore these values.

The representative indicated that it is unacceptable and unreasonable to pass laws that contradict the provisions of the constitution, which says that the family is the basis of society based on religion, morals and patriotism. abuse.

Al-Armouti clarified that whoever puts legislation on him should consider human happiness, not his injustice, nor the destruction of the family.

He added, “We are an Islamic nation, our reference is the Holy Qur’an and the blessed Sunnah of the Prophet. As for what is demanded, it is not a model from the West, but rather we issue these values ​​to them. In some Western countries, the personal status law is derived from the provisions of Islamic Sharia, and it is a reference in the courts.

The representative considered that the amendments contained in the draft child protection law, a circumvention of the Personal Status Law, approved and the Juvenile Law, pointing out that the Penal Code gave parents the right to supervise the child, so it is unreasonable to leave the child wandering in front of a torrent of intellectual and behavioral deviations.

Al-Armouti pointed out that Jordan is a signatory to an international convention on the rights of the child, but it has reservations about some articles in this convention, noting that any reservation gives a country the right to reconsider this reservation, but he expressed his fears that Jordan would raise the reservation to those provisions.

He pointed out that Jordan had passed a law on child protection in 2006, asking “why the expansion of removing the child from his family, his environment and his home”, warning that the adoption of the law (the Child Protection Bill) in its contained form will lead to an increase in the number of crimes, so removing the girl from the house of Her father, will reflect negatively on the entire society.
