The head of the Jordan Hotels Association, Abdul Hakim Al-Hindi, said on Saturday that occupancy rates for 5-star hotels in Aqaba reached 85% during the weekend.

Al-Hindi added, in a statement to “The Kingdom”, that occupancy rates in hotels in the capital, Amman, reached 70%, while they reached 82% in the Dead Sea and 32% in Petra.

With regard to Aqaba hotels, Al Hindi explained that the percentages vary according to the hotels classification, pointing out that the five-star hotels occupancy rates reached 85%, while they decreased in the four-star hotels and below to 50%.

Regarding the reasons for the occupancy rates reaching this level, Al-Hindi said that “there are several reasons, including the end of the “Tawjihi” high school exams, which enabled the people to go to domestic tourism, in addition to the presence of conferences and singing festivals.
