Vitamin B12 plays many important roles in the body, such as producing red blood cells and maintaining normal nervous system functions. Its effect is also invisible to the eye but the deficiency is not. Low B12 can deal a blow to the body.

More severe symptoms include: nervousness. It affects the brain as well as the nerves located throughout the human body.

According to Oregon State University, neurological symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency include numbness and tingling in the hands and feet more commonly.

Others include:

Difficulty walking.

Dementia with or without mood changes.

Oregon State University warns that “although the development of neurological complications is generally gradual, these symptoms may not reverse with vitamin deficiency treatment, especially if they have been present for a long time.”

General signs of a vitamin B12 deficiency include:

A pale yellow tinge to your skin.

– Inflammation and redness of the tongue.

Mouth ulcers.

Blurred vision.
