On Friday, the Ministerial Committee for the Empowerment of Women will hold the regional conference “Women in Political Parties in the Arab Region” in partnership and cooperation with the United Nations Women and the United Nations Development Program.
The regional conference will be held under the auspices of Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh, with the participation of ministers, representatives, notables, members of municipal councils, political parties, representatives of foreign embassies in Jordan, a number of studies and research centers concerned with women, and representatives of people with disabilities.
Also participating are female members of the coalition of women parliamentarians from Arab countries to combat violence against women, and experts and politicians from Morocco, Tunisia, Iraq, Algeria, Sudan, Libya, Palestine, Egypt, Bahrain, Lebanon, Norway and the United Kingdom.
The conference will include sessions that discuss topics such as the role of legislation in creating a supportive environment for women’s participation in partisan life, international experiences and success stories in overcoming the challenges women face in partisan and political work.
The regional conference comes within the framework of the efforts made by the government, represented by the Ministerial Committee for the Empowerment of Women, to enhance the participation of women in political life, especially after the approved amendments to the laws of political parties and elections and the constitutional amendments related to them, which will reflect on a greater representation of women in Parliament during the upcoming electoral cycles. .
The regional conference is held over two days.
