Yesterday evening, Thursday, the electrical load reached 3350 MW, while the daytime load reached 2,950 MW, which is the maximum load recorded during the current summer, according to the data of the National Electric Power Company.
The maximum electrical load recorded last January was 4010 MW, which is the maximum load that was recorded in the Kingdom.
The company confirmed its ability to meet the demand for electric power through the implementation of appropriate operational plans and to ensure the capacity and readiness of the generation plants to accommodate the expected demand for electric power during the summer.
In previous statements by the Director General of the National Electric Power Company, Eng. Amjad Al-Rawashdeh, the electrical system in the Kingdom is characterized by high reliability comparable to those in developed countries, and that the company, within specific plans, increases its readiness to face electrical loads during peak months.
He stressed that the company is able to meet the demand for electric power by implementing appropriate operational plans and ensuring the capacity and readiness of the generation plants to absorb the expected demand for electric power during the summer of this year.
He pointed out that the electrical system in the Kingdom, whether in the transmission or generation network, is “fully prepared” to meet the summer season, noting that the company has completed periodic and preventive maintenance programs supported by sufficient obstetric capacity to accommodate the loads resulting from high temperatures.
In the same context, the maximum recorded load during 2021 amounted to (3,770) megawatts, an increase of 3.0 percent over 2020, according to the data of the National Electric Power Company.
The generating capacity of conventional energy decreased from 4000 MW in 2020 to 3,977 MW in 2021 by 0.6 percent, while the renewable energy capacity increased from 1424 MW in 2020 to 1579 MW in 2021, an increase of 10.9 percent.
