The Ministry of Agriculture confirmed that most of the projects under implementation will be presented according to the national plan for sustainable agriculture, respectively.

According to Facebook posts on Wednesday, the ministry announced the near completion of the Abu Khashaba Dam, whose implementation is funded by the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development, and under the supervision of the ministry and the Jordan Valley Authority.

The Abu Khashabeh Dam is located in Tafila Governorate, 12 km east of Tafila, and has a storage capacity of 100,000 m3 of water.

The construction of the Abu Khashabeh Dam comes to take advantage of rainwater, which contributes to enhancing water suitable for all uses, as well as providing a nearby water source for watering livestock, in addition to enhancing the subterranean charging technology, which is one of the most important goals of water harvesting.

The ministry indicated that a great effort is being made by the water harvesting cadres, in cooperation with the Jordan Valley Authority.

Install excavation sites

The Ministry is also working on fixing the excavation sites that will be implemented in each of; Ukhaider al-Sateeh, Saninirat, Qatiyah, Qalb Maghar in Al-Jafr and a number of areas in the Badia, with 11 construction and maintenance sites with a capacity of half a million m3 of water.

She pointed to the great efforts being made by the water harvesting cadres in the Ministry and the Royal Engineering Corps.

Agro-industrial complex in the southern Jordan Valley

The ministry started preparing the initial stages and equipment for the agricultural industries complex in the southern Jordan Valley.

Next week, the ministry will sign the first agreement with an investor to establish 3 factories specialized in agricultural industries, which depend on absorbing the surplus production of vegetable crops, in addition to contract farming.

The Industrial Cities Corporation will set the engineering conditions for the infrastructure of the factories, and the work will be parallel between the establishment of factories and the infrastructure, as the factories will be completed according to the national plan for sustainable agriculture at the end of this year.
