Representative Saleh Al-Armouti asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to clarify the reason for the absence of a resident ambassador for Jordan in Nigeria since 1964, even though there is an ambassador for Nigeria in Jordan.
In his question, Al-Armouti said, “Why is there no resident ambassador for Jordan in Nigeria since 1964, although there is a Nigerian ambassador to Jordan, and the last ambassador to Jordan was His Excellency Mr. Kamel Al-Sharif, may God have mercy on him.”
He added, “Does the ministry know that Nigeria has a population of no less than 220 million people, which is the largest country in Africa and is one of the OPEC countries?”
He pointed out that “a large number of Jordanians residing in Nigeria and providing technical and administrative work, investors and businessmen need an embassy.”
