Employees of the Public Security Directorate arrested a “stray” shooter; It caused the death of a person in Irbid Governorate, after investigations that lasted for a month and a half, according to the directorate’s media spokesperson.

The media spokesman said, on Sunday, that a notification was received to the Irbid Police Directorate on June 16, 2022, that a man in his thirties was taken to the hospital after he was hit by a stray bullet while he was in front of his house, and he remained under treatment before his death on July 18, 2022 from the injury.

He added, that an investigative team from the Criminal Investigation Department and Irbid Police investigated the case from the moment the report was received and worked to collect information from the area where the citizen was injured and the surrounding areas.

He pointed out that despite the lack of evidence in the case, the investigation team continued its work without stopping and investigated all the information collected, summoning anyone suspected or received information about his hosting a party or event on that day, in addition to seizing 15 firearms during All investigations were sent to the Department of Laboratories and Criminal Evidence to match them and identify the bullet that caused the death of the citizen.

He confirmed that the forensic laboratory, and through undoubted technical laboratory tests, were able to determine the weapon from which the bullet came out, and the owner of the weapon, who was found to have participated in an event in an area adjacent to the site of the injury, was seized.

And the media spokesman indicated that the person who fired the bullets will be referred to the judiciary.

He stressed that the hand of justice will reach every perpetrator of such crimes, and that no file is closed against an unknown person in cases that threaten the safety of others or cause injuries and deaths.

The media spokesman pointed out that the shooters can no longer escape from their crimes and the hand of justice will reach them to face the fate of their insistence on following deadly manifestations that have become shunned by everyone in expressing their joy.

He called for combating the phenomenon of fatal shootings and reporting the perpetrators, noting that the rates of its spread have declined significantly, and that the Public Security Directorate continues to fight it until its elimination.
