The Wall Street Journal, citing informed sources, revealed that the Russian businessman, billionaire Roman Abramovich, is seeking to sue the European Union authorities and collect more than one million dollars from them.

The newspaper pointed out that Abramovich appealed the imposition of sanctions against him and demanded that the European Council transfer one million dollars to a charitable foundation he set up after the sale of Chelsea Football Club.

The newspaper noted that billionaire Russian businessman Alisher Usmanov also sought to lift EU sanctions as well.

His application, which was sent to the court, stated that the financial consequences of the penalties may lead to the bankruptcy of three of his companies, which may affect the lives of employees and their families, but the court rejected this application.
