A community campaign was launched rejecting the procedures and decisions of the Ministry of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs and Holy Places, represented in closing a number of Quranic centers affiliated with the Society for the Preservation of the Holy Quran, alleging violations in these centers.

Through social media platforms, a campaign was launched entitled “People’s Campaign to Defend the Noble Qur’an,” expressing rejection of the procedures related to the closure of Quranic centers and children’s clubs, amid condemnation of what they described as the Ministry of Awqaf’s “narrowing” on the Society for the Preservation of the Holy Qur’an.

The organizers of this campaign announced, “the closure of 5 Quranic centers, the arrest of 68 Quranic centers, and the suspension of the work of more than 160 Quranic children’s clubs.”

The campaign organizers stressed that the issue has become “beyond the closure of Quranic centers, and the matter has touched all noble social values that have been embodied in the Holy Qur’an, and that what happens from intentional closures is only the effect of a deeper problem, which is targeting the community’s religion and trying to impose Western values on society that have not been completed.” It is related to instinct.”

They declared to continue “to conduct media and social activities and launch sub-campaigns at the popular level to confront what targets the instinct of society and abort all attempts at Westernization that are not consistent with instinct.”

They also called on the Jordanian community to interact with the campaign and join the campaign group on Facebook, and for every citizen to have an active role in protecting the Muslim family, childhood and women from all waves of value targeting that is raging at an unprecedented intensity.

The media, Hossam Gharaibeh, called on the Ministry of Awqaf to re-work the 60 Quranic centers that have been suspended, according to a disclosure received by the Society for the Preservation of the Holy Quran.

Gharaibeh said that there is no need to stop these centers from working, and that the ministry should not put complications in order to correct the centers that have been suspended, so that they can resume their activities.

It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Awqaf sparked widespread controversy, due to decisions and procedures regarding the Society for the Preservation of the Holy Qur’an and its affiliated centers, due to its setting conditions described as difficult for the continuation of the work of the centers and Quranic children’s clubs.
