On Wednesday, an Egyptian court sentenced to death the accused of killing student Naira Ashraf, in the incident that stirred up Egyptian public opinion.
The student, Mohamed Adel, admitted his crime of killing his fellow student, Naira Ashraf, in front of the gate of Mansoura University.
The Cairo Criminal Court had referred the accused to the Egyptian Mufti, to take a legal opinion on his execution, and set a session for Wednesday to pronounce the verdict, which was done.
The Egyptian Public Prosecution had previously charged the accused with murdering the victim with premeditation, in a brutal manner in the street.
The prosecution said that “the accused plotted to kill the victim, and set a date to commit his crime in order to be certain of her presence in it, and at that time appointed the bus that she was riding and rode with her, and determined the intention to kill, and hid a knife between the folds of his clothes.”
And she continued: “The accused followed her, until she arrived in front of the university, so he stabbed her behind her.”
