The Director General of the General Food Corporation, Prof. Dr. Nizar Mahmoud Mhidat, stated that the results of the laboratory analysis of samples associated with suspected cases of food poisoning in Zarqa Governorate showed that the ready-to-eat samples (chickpeas and beans) were free of pathogenic microbes, and that the falafel paste contained indicators of microbial contamination (Escherichia coli), which indicates Its presence in ready-to-eat foodstuffs leads to poor sanitary conditions during the handling of foodstuffs.
And he indicated in a press statement that the establishment’s control and inspection teams went immediately upon receiving information related to cases suffering from symptoms similar to symptoms of food poisoning in Zarqa to inspect the food facility associated with suspected cases of poisoning and took all necessary precautions.
He added that the precautionary measures included closing the restaurant, examining and evaluating the raw materials used in preparing meals sensory, as well as withdrawing expanded samples of food circulating there, as well as from prepared meals and production inputs for the purposes of laboratory analysis in the institution’s laboratories to ensure their safety and suitability for consumption.
The Corporation emphasizes its continuous follow-up to all food establishments in the Kingdom through periodic inspection tours and intensive follow-up and investigation operations through its control teams in its branches located in various governorates of the Kingdom, including Zarqa Governorate.
