“Development” announces the arrest of 1,211 beggars within a month

The report for the month of June, issued by the Ministry of Social Development, presented the most prominent services and procedures of the Ministry, and its supervisory visits to various regions of the Kingdom.

The ministry’s media spokesman, Ashraf Khreis, told Jordan News Agency (Petra) today, Tuesday, that the report shows the volume of services provided by the ministry, the National Aid Fund, the general register of associations and institutions affiliated with them, the number of beneficiaries in numbers and the type of service.

According to the report, the directorates of the Ministry provided cash assistance to 2,713 families, while 12,156 families benefited from in-kind aid, 7,865 studies were conducted for the purpose of granting health insurance to poor families, 195 studies were conducted to exempt treatment expenses, and 35 studies were conducted to settle the rights of heirs.

Also, 6 nurseries were licensed, 6 nurseries closed, 4 warnings, and one home nursery licensed. The number of requests to purchase homes for poor families reached 111, and 69 requests for housing maintenance were received, and 97 studies were conducted for productive families.

The report indicated that 7 children were handed over to alternative caring families, and 135 requests were received for alternative sponsoring families, and 21 studies were conducted related to enrolling children in care homes, while 23 children exited, and 14 requests were received to enroll the elderly in nursing homes, and the number of elderly people who 10 elderly people were enrolled in homes for the elderly, and 16 studies were conducted related to enrolling persons with disabilities in care centers, and 3 persons with disabilities were enrolled in care centers.

He added that a center for people with disabilities was alerted, while the departments of nurseries, incubation, disabilities, associations, productivity enhancement and juveniles carried out 1,188 follow-up visits.

The directorates of the ministry received 27 requests to establish charitable societies, and temporary administrative bodies were formed for about 31 charitable societies, while 391 societies submitted requests for support, 101 requests to grant funding for development projects to associations, 16 associations were warned, and 184 meetings were held by directors of social development directorates for association heads. Charity and public bodies, and 270 field visits by development managers to municipal and decentralization councils, and 31,911 beneficiaries of the services of the directorates during the past month.

On the other hand, the ministry indicated that the cadres of the Anti-Begging Directorate seized 1,211 beggars, conducted 424 campaigns, while the total amounts seized amounted to 976 dinars, and conducted 728 studies related to juvenile cases, where 285 juveniles entered during last June, and conducted 1,667 studies to request access Exemption from work permit fees.

With regard to the general register of associations, Khreis said that 20 associations were registered, 11 others were dissolved, 9 associations joined the union, 40 amended statutes were approved, and two requests for foreign funding were approved.

According to the National Aid Fund’s work report for the month of last June, no new families benefited from the recurring monthly aid, 690 new families benefited from the urgent and immediate emergency financial aid program, 96 new families benefited from the physical rehabilitation program, and 160 people benefited from the vocational training support program for children beneficiary families.
