The government terminates the services of general managers of the Ports Management and Operations Company and the Maritime Authority

Prime Minister Bishr Al-Khasawneh said, while presiding over the cabinet session, on Sunday, that the investigation team into the accident of the fall of the chlorine gas tank in one of the ports of Aqaba city “accomplished its mission” and prepared a report that includes a set of procedures, including: ending the services of the Director General of the Ports Management and Operation Company, and a group From the company’s officials, in addition to terminating the services of the Director General of the Maritime Authority.
He added, “The Aqaba incident report, in all its details, was referred to the Public Prosecution today (Sunday).”
Al-Khasawneh pointed out that the investigation proved the existence of a great shortcoming and failure in safety procedures and dealing with hazardous materials in the port of Aqaba, which cannot be tolerated.
“We have fully committed to the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the Aqaba incident, and we will announce its results today (Sunday) with full transparency to public opinion,” he added.
He said that the response of the government and all institutions to the Aqaba incident was immediate and with the utmost professionalism, and it greatly mitigated the effects of the accident and its repercussions on the safety of citizens and those in the city of Aqaba.
