“Pandemics” before Election Day: The world is coexisting with Corona

A member of the National Committee for Epidemiology, Dr. Bassam Hijjawi, confirmed that the world is closer to coexisting with the virus that causes the Corona epidemic.

Hijjawi added, in the context of his speech to the “Voice of the Kingdom” program on “Al-Mamlaka” channel, this Monday evening – one day before the elections of municipal councils, governorate councils and the Amman Municipality Council – that the mitigating measures announced by the government regarding the pandemic “coincided” with the election date, nothing more. .

He pointed out that the Kingdom recorded, yesterday, Sunday, 6,940 active cases of the emerging coronavirus, indicating that there is a decline in vaccination numbers.

Hijjawi continued: The number of recipients of the first dose of the vaccine in the Kingdom is 4 million and 723 thousand people, while the number of those who received the two doses is 4 million and 323 thousand people.

And he revealed that there are 276 Corona patients in all Jordanian hospitals.

In the same context, member of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Election Commission, Abeer Dababneh, confirmed that 4 million and 600,000 voters are entitled to vote in the elections scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday.

Dababneh indicated that the Independent Election Commission, with its set of requirements, ensures the safety of citizens on election day, stressing that the election centers will not be a focus for the spread of the epidemic.

She indicated that there are 140 local observers for these elections.
