The Prime Minister, Dr. Bishr Al-Khasawneh, confirmed that the government will intervene, by the authority of the law, against a small and limited group that is trying to exaggerate prices and monopoly.
While chairing a meeting, today, Monday, at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply, which included leaders of the commercial and industrial private sector, and a number of ministers and officials, Al-Khasawneh stressed that the private sector is an essential and national partner, praising its great role during the Corona pandemic and in various circumstances.
Al-Khasawneh said: The private sector, for the most part, has prioritized the national interest over profit accounts, and embodied the spirit of national responsibility in addressing the Corona crisis, stressing that the government will work in the same spirit of partnership with various sectors to alleviate as much as possible the severity of the current conditions and their repercussions, specifically the Russian crisis and the global crisis in particular. .
He added: We are on the cusp of the blessed month of Ramadan, and we all have a duty to control prices, secure goods to citizens at fair prices, and meet their needs, stressing that “anyone who tampers with the citizens’ power and exaggerates prices will see red eyes, with the law and in partnership with all sectors.”
The Prime Minister indicated that the advent of the month of Ramadan for this year coincides with the start of the recovery phase from the Corona pandemic, due to which the national economy has incurred additional burdens and the public treasury has been deprived of much revenue, reiterating that the private sector was and still is an essential partner in bearing these burdens.
He noted that the government presented health considerations during the Corona pandemic over all other considerations, and worked to develop health capabilities and double the absorptive capacity of hospitals, and then gradually opened the sectors affected by this pandemic due to an increase in transportation costs, freight wages and others.
And he indicated that the government worked to support the sectors by implementing a number of mitigating measures, customs reforms, and increasing the strategic stock of basic commodities.
In this regard, he drew attention to the tireless efforts of King Abdullah II and his wisdom in securing a safe strategic food stockpile of basic commodities and materials, and storing them through containers and silos; Stressing that all the credit goes to the king, who turned to this issue early and directed the government to take the necessary measures to do so.
The Prime Minister added: We do not have any patterns of concern about the strategic stock and the available quantities of goods, pointing out that the Kingdom’s stock of wheat is sufficient for 14 months and of barley for 9 months.
The Prime Minister referred to the repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, which reflected on supply chains, oil prices, and the movement of exports, after some countries decided to stop exporting in anticipation of what might happen, stressing that the government would work in partnership with the private sector to mitigate the impact of these circumstances as much as possible. , stressing that the government will never rely on the logic of melancholy and despair, but rather on determination, determination and the will to create a better future. He added: We are interested in maintaining a fair price equation, and at the same time maintaining a legitimate margin of profit, stressing that the government will take all necessary measures to adequately secure goods and fair prices in the civilian and military consumer institutions.
The Prime Minister began his meeting by congratulating on the anniversary of the eternal battle of dignity, which falls today, and saluted the heroism of our Arab Mustafi army and our security services, and the sacrifices of the homeland’s martyrs, stressing that “the battle of dignity put Jordan and the Arab nation on the paths of confidence, invincibility and determination, and we are inspired by the will and determination to overcome all difficulties.” that confront us.”
The Prime Minister also congratulated Jordanian mothers on the occasion of Mother’s Day, which falls today, stressing that mothers are the support and partner in all walks of life, and that empowering Jordanian women in the political, economic and social fields is a duty that the government is committed to promoting.
