In a very rare case, a Yemeni child was born with one eye in the city of Rada’, Al-Bayda Governorate, in central Yemen.

The local newspaper, Al-Mashhad, quoted Karim Zarei, as saying that the city of Rada witnessed the birth of a child with one eye, one eye socket and one optic nerve.

Zarei explained that this case is very rare and is found in Greek mythology, and the birth took place on Wednesday, at Al Hilal Medical Hospital in Radaa City in Al Bayda Governorate.

Later, local and medical sources confirmed the death of the child 7 hours after his birth, after attempts to save him by the medical staff failed.

It should be noted that the world witnessed only 6 similar cases about 5 centuries ago, and it was called “the birth of children with one eye”, and the first case was recorded in 1665.
