“Education” clarifies about closing schools before the elections

The Ministry of Education announced the suspension of schools that include polling and sorting centers designated for the elections of governorate councils, municipal councils, and the Amman Municipality Council 2022, next Monday.
The ministry’s spokesman, Ahmed Al-Masafah, said that the school shutdown next Monday will be for schools that include polling and counting centers for local elections, provided that school hours will be converted to distance education.
As for schools that do not include polling and sorting centers, work will continue as usual next Monday, according to Al-Masa’fa TV.
Prime Minister Bishr Al-Khasawneh issued a statement suspending the official working hours next Tuesday, on the occasion of the local elections.
The statement stipulated that ministries, official departments, institutions, public bodies, official universities, municipalities, joint services councils, the Greater Amman Municipality, and companies owned entirely by the government will suspend their work next Tuesday.
The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Electoral Commission, Dr. Khaled Al-Kalaldeh, said that the commission had addressed the Prime Minister to suspend schools on the Monday before the elections, in order for these schools to take over the “electoral centers” technically.
In his speech to the Voice of the Kingdom program on Thursday evening, he added that the Prime Minister directed this book to the Minister of Education, to work on its content.
Kalaldeh pointed out that the Monday holiday that precedes the elections will be compensated for by Saturday, to be his compensation.
