The Minister of Agriculture, Khaled Al-Hanaifat, confirmed that the government, through the Ministry of Agriculture, worked to cancel all quantitative and time restrictions and quotas imposed on the import of live animals, including lamb, calves and red meat.
He added that this decision comes within the framework of seeking to enhance the strategic stock of plant and animal foodstuffs and in accordance with national priorities by enhancing food security and facilitating trade in agricultural products and to ensure an increase in supply and a reduction in the prices of imported agricultural products.
Al-Hanaifat indicated that within the framework of preparations for the holy month of Ramadan, the ministry worked to remove quantitative restrictions and quotas and allow the import of frozen, chopped and pulled chicken in all its forms.
He continued: To enhance the principle of partnership with the private sector, the ministry held a series of meetings with the Syndicate of Food Traders and Importers to remove all obstacles facing the flow of agricultural and food commodities of plant and animal origin. The context also canceled many import conditions for about 120 additional commodities.
