The Director-General of the Farmers Union, Mahmoud Al-Oran, demanded, on Sunday evening, that the government, represented by the relevant ministries, give an official response and clarification regarding the issue of fodder, in light of the climatic and political changes that are taking place.

In a statement to Khabarni, Al-Oran was surprised by the absence of an official and clear position until this moment regarding the issue of fodder, especially as it is of great interest to livestock breeders.

And he indicated that the prices of fodder have risen in Jordan, in light of the government’s silence, and that there should be reassurance for livestock breeders.

Al-Oran said that the issue of fodder is broad and concerns livestock breeders and traders for import and export, and traders to fatten and feed sheep, wondering about the ability of the Jordanian trader to compete if prices rise.

He demanded that exports belonging to the livestock breeders sector be exempted from fees imposed by the government, as a support for breeders.

He pointed out that rainfall in areas witnessing livestock is still low, and that this was accompanied by frost and east winds that affect pastoral plants and field crops.
