Today, Saturday, the Independent Election Commission participated in the dialogue workshop organized and called by the Southern Jordan Valley Forum under the title: “Elections and Participation in Decision-Making” in the presence of a large gathering of local community members in the district.

Member of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Election Commission, Jihad Momani, confirmed the independence of the commission and its standing at the same distance from all candidates and voters, explaining that the commission has no authority over it and that it is not subjected to any pressure from any party.

Al-Momani added that the commission applies international standards of integrity, transparency and impartiality, but whoever loses the elections is trying to question the electoral process and point the finger at state agencies and blame them, stressing that the citizen is the tool for change and we have to go for change and not wait for it to come to us, considering the boxes Voting is the rule, and participation in elections is a national responsibility that everyone bears as a duty and a right that we must take.

During the meeting, Momani reviewed the preparations of the Independent Election Commission to hold provincial council elections, municipal councils, and the Amman Municipality Council, and the procedures and guarantees of integrity followed by the commission, which prove its transparency in action and not in words.

Al-Momani gave a detailed explanation of the electoral calendar from the stage of preparing the voter lists and the voting mechanism, stressing that all these stages are carried out in accordance with the law and with utmost transparency, and there is no place to talk about manipulation or engineering the elections, which are transmitted in the context of disinformation campaigns targeting the standing of the Jordanian state and based on skepticism and rumour. At the end of the meeting, an extensive dialogue took place in which Momani answered the questions and inquiries of the attendees.
