The scene of the Turkish President’s reception of his Israeli counterpart, Isaac Herzog, was a break in the image of the leader and strategic ally of all forces and currents in favor of political Islam, or those hostile to Israel in Jordan and abroad.
Many considered that the picture of the two leaders revealed Erdogan’s falsehood and his tactical play under the pretext of his country’s regional interests, after he played over the past years on the card of enmity with Israel, and in an ingenious way by investing the thirst of Arab peoples in the search for forces to counter Israel’s ambitions and stand in its face.
With regard to the Jordanian street, there was a shock that appeared from this rapid rapprochement and appeared clearly on social media platforms, while the “Muslim Brotherhood” group in Jordan launched an unprecedented campaign of criticism against the Turkish president for receiving Herzog so graciously in Ankara.
Professional unions in Jordan also expressed their indignation and condemnation of the Turkish-Israeli rapprochement, considering it a stab at the struggle of the Palestinian people and their struggle against the Israeli occupation.
Assaf: We do not compliment any printed system
The spokesman for the Islamic Action Front Party, the political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan, Thabet Assaf, believes that the position of the Islamic movement and the Jordanian street in general is clear and is against normalization with the Zionist entity and does not compliment in this position, whether regimes, leaders of countries or people.
He added to the Jordan News Online newspaper, that the Islamic movement expressed its opinion in a statement, where it denounced Erdogan’s reception of the Israeli president and considered it an inappropriate step and considered normalization.
And Assaf indicated that the Jordanian street’s rejection of this rapprochement reflects the awareness of the street and the clarity of its compass, as it rejects any attempt to normalize with the Zionist entity.
He pointed out, “We in the Islamic movement do not compliment anyone in this strategic position on the Palestinian issue, and it is a condemned and rejected step, and there is no exception in this matter.”
Assaf explained that “the Turkish regime did not bring anything new and did not sever relations with the Zionist entity over the past years,” considering that what happened was not a shift in the Turkish position, as the relations of the two parties did not stop or break.
He said that if the Turkish regime believes that its exit from the international or economic crises it faces is through dependent on the Israeli or American system, then it is delusional, and the fact that the performance of the models in the whole world proves that strength lies in circumventing the basic principles of society, religion and belief, and it cannot be For any regime to derive its strength from its adversary or enemy.
However, Assaf believes that “the normalization that took place in the relations between the Turkish regime and the Zionist entity is completely different from the relations in which there is a kind of mortgage and handover of resources that we see happening with a number of Arab countries,” stressing that “we differentiate in the motives pursued by the regime. The Turkish relationship with the Zionist entity, which the Arab regime pursues with the Zionist entity, because the Turkish regime deals with the principle of equality, while the Arab regimes deal with the principle of dependence, and despite this, any relationship of any form with the occupation is rejected and condemned.”
Diab: Erdogan was part of an American-Zionist project

For his part, the Secretary-General of the Popular Unity Party, Saeed Diab, said that “the Jordanian street was divided into two parties. The first was not surprised by the position of the Turkish regime and its rapprochement with Israel, as they had knowledge of the nature of the relationship between the Turkish regime and Israel and that it did not leave that relationship accordingly, and they did not bet much on The role of the Turkish president, and they viewed him as part of the American-Zionist project that aims at the new Middle East project.”
In his interview with Jordan News, he indicated that “the other side of the Jordanian street was deceived by the image in which Erdogan presented himself as an Islamic figure and defender of Islam and the Palestinian cause, and everyone was surprised by the relationship and reception of the Israeli president.”
Diab added, “This type of regime sees its interest with Israel because it provides it with a guarantee of American support, and they are regimes that do not bet on their peoples but rather on the alliance, and we have seen great rapprochement with other Arab countries.”
According to Diab, “This rapprochement reveals the devotion of these regimes to their interests, as it comes at a time when the Israeli oppression against the Palestinian people is escalating, the Judaization of Jerusalem and the holy sites, the abuse and the confiscation of all the rights of the Palestinian people, as if the Turkish and Arab regimes are also rewarding Israel for its actions.”
He said, “Erdogan’s image has emerged for what it is and has revealed to everyone with reason and insight that he is not sincere in the image he is trying to weave for himself.”
Chalabi: Turkey sought its regional interests

Professor of Political Science at the Hashemite University, Dr. Jamal Al-Shalabi, says that “the Jordanian and Arab street rejoiced better than the arrival of an Islamic current to the Turkish regime, especially with its political positions in support of the Palestinian cause and the issues of Jerusalem.”
He added to “Akhbar Al-Jordan”, “The image of Erdogan in the eyes of Jordanians formed the image of the liberated conqueror, despite the presence of positions that show a gradual shift in Turkish-Israeli relations that were previously biased towards the Israeli.”
And Al-Shalaby said, “The recent rapprochement between Turkey and Israel is not a surprise to those who know international politics, as cooperation and rapprochement in terms of security was continuing between the two parties despite the tension in 2010 due to the Marmara ship, which intended to break the siege on Gaza before it was attacked and a number of Turks were killed on the ship.” board”.
He wondered, “Since when have international relations been going according to the religious vision only? So what about a country like Turkey, a deeply rooted secular state since 1923, and its presence is important to NATO and the Security Council of Europe, and therefore I think that Turkish interests ultimately lead to a rapprochement with Israel, so I do not find A real surprise was what happened, and the surprise was for those who bet that Turkey is capable of leading or defending Arab causes.”
Peasant women: The meeting is not a shock

For his part, the Secretary-General of the Partnership and Salvation Party, Salem Al-Falahat, said, “The public relations between Turkey and Israel do not shock me and do not constitute a shock. Nadya according to its project and interests.”
Regarding the Jordanian street’s reaction, he said, “We are looking for a (peg) to hang on to our inability only. A country like Turkey has its interests and every time it puts its interests ahead of anything else, as it has previously abandoned the Muslim Brotherhood when their faces conflict with its regional interests, Therefore, it is not interested in defending us and adopting our cases.”
Al-Falahat added to “Akhbar Al-Jordan”, that “the Turkish president was and still supports the Arab peoples and issues, and today he sought the interests and issues of his state, so where are the Arabs in supporting their peoples and their issues?” .
He pointed out that “some Arab countries openly practice normalization with Israel, and some are forced and secret normalization through visits to Israeli leaders and are celebrated in Arab countries neighboring Palestine, and there is normalization by Palestinian figures who practice normalization and security coordination with Israel.”
He stressed that “the Israeli-Turkish relationship is old and Turkey did not leave it, and on the contrary, relations and cooperation were continuing on a military and security level, as there was cooperation in the field of manufacturing drones, which was carried out with Turkish-Israeli cooperation.”
Dialogues: The Palestinian issue was a card in the hands of the Turkish regime

Political analyst, Dr. Munther Al-Hawarat, considered that “the Palestinian issue was a card in the hands of the Turkish leadership to invest in it to ascend to the leadership of the Islamic year.”
He added to “Akhbar Al-Jordan”, that “if the Jordanian or Arab public opinion examined Turkish-Israeli relations as a whole during the last ten years, it would have found that the dispute between the two countries was at the top of the political hierarchy and was not reflected in the rest of the fields.”
And he stated, “If we follow the economic field, we will find that the economic exchange last year between Turkey and Israel amounted to about 8.3 billion dollars, and it was 36% higher than previous years, and there was no rupture between the occupying power and Turkey, but the Turkish presidency had a position From the Israeli government because of the differences that occurred after the attempts to break the siege on Gaza.”
The dialogues indicated that “Turkey reads the equations more carefully amid a state of geopolitical vacuum and the absence of an international sponsor playing an active role in the region, which prompted Turkey to occupy a distinguished position for this position in terms of leadership, which calls on it to cool its fronts, including the relationship with Israel, to support it in this role.”
And he indicated that “Turkey went before Israel and to the Gulf, and this is a comprehensive strategy to justify its files in the region so as to enable it to take a distinguished position, in addition to the important energy path for Turkey and to become the gas and oil pipelines through it, so it moved in more than one direction to achieve this ambition while implementing a comprehensive strategy in this field.” “.
As for the Jordanian street, Al-Hawarat said, “It evaluates politics from an emotional and emotional perspective driven by hostility to this party or that,” noting that “the Turkish position stemmed from a strategy that uses regional and international issues as cards in its hands, and therefore when the role of this paper weakens, there is no harm in retracting it.” or give it up.”
Al-Sabayla: assessing politics from populist perspectives

The strategic analyst, Amer al-Sabayleh, believes that “there is no doubt that Turkey’s approach to rapprochement with Israel indicates that it is a political view, especially since relations with Israel have not been severed and that commercial, economic and security transactions have also not stopped, and thus the idea of populism that many have fallen into.” It has ended today, and it is clear that the stage we are living in indicates the absence of populism and the move to real politics.”
He added to “Akhbar Al-Jordan”, that “this can be explained by what is happening now, in terms of showing the relationship with Israel and the desire not to keep it silent and secret.”
He said, “The populists who evaluate politics from populist perspectives should reconsider realistic research and evaluation with the eye of realpolitik.”
