HRH Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince, stressed the importance of highlighting the strengths that Jordan enjoys in tourism, especially in the areas of heritage and culture, medical tourism, eco-tourism, adventure tourism, leisure tourism, and religious tourism.

This came during his presence, today, Saturday, as part of the interactive session of the tourism sector, within the third round of the national economic workshop held at the Royal Hashemite Court under the title “Moving towards the future: Unlocking the possibilities to modernize the economy.”

His Highness the Crown Prince heard from the participants in the session an explanation of the priorities for the next phase of the tourism sector, and their vision regarding the advancement of the sector, as it is one of the sectors most affected by the Corona pandemic.

His Highness pointed out the importance of highlighting the strengths that Jordan enjoys in tourism, especially in the areas of heritage and culture, medical tourism, eco-tourism, adventure tourism, leisure tourism, and religious tourism.

His Highness the Crown Prince stressed the importance of moving from the theoretical stage of discussions related to the tourism sector to the actual implementation of the recommendations on the ground, so that the citizen can feel their impact.

His Highness also listened to a summary of the topics covered by the tourism sector sessions within the workshop, as the participants pointed out the challenges facing the sector, in addition to the quick measures that the government can take to advance the reality of tourism.

The participants talked about how to restore the growth achieved by the sector before the Corona pandemic, and expand the inclusion of local communities in planning the future of the sector, as well as work to promote sustainable tourism, and expand tourism-related education programs to prepare qualified human resources to supplement the sector locally and regionally.

The third round of the national economic workshop discussed the factors required to enable the growth of each sector and achieve its priorities, and framed them in an integrated roadmap. This week, higher education was highlighted within the education sector and the labor market, the clothing industry within the industrial sector, and design within the industries sector. creative.

The workshop aims to assess the current state of the national economy and identify opportunities for developing economic sectors and increasing their competitiveness, stimulating growth and creating economic opportunities and improving the quality of life and basic services for Jordanians.

The work of the workshop was launched at the end of February under royal directives, and its work extends to five weeks, and the duration of its convening may be prolonged to continue some of its work during the month of Ramadan if the need arises, especially for work teams emanating from the main sectors, and additional sessions are held during each week To focus on some of the sub-sectors and host specialized speakers.

The workshop brings together about 400 economists and specialists, representing the private sector, chambers of industry and commerce, government, parliament, academia, public institutions, civil society and the media, as the number of participants is expanded in each round to add experts from each sector.

The sectors are: agriculture and food security, energy, water, mining, communications and information technology, markets and financial services, health care, trade, industry including the garment industry, tourism, education and the labor market, transportation and logistics, urban development and climate change, and creative industries.
