8 small goats died in the village of Al-Baqoura in Irbid governorate, today, Friday, due to an attack by a group of stray dogs.
The owner of the sheep, farmer Ahmed Al-Hilali, explained that a herd of stray dogs attacked the sheep pen before discovering their presence and expelling them, noting that they had squashed the stomachs of 8 young goats and killed them.
Al-Hilali indicated that the people of the area suffer from the remarkable spread of stray dogs that attack citizens, especially children sometimes, amid the lack of solutions to this problem by the concerned authorities.
In turn, the administrator of the Northern Jordan Valley Brigade and head of the Muath bin Jabal Municipal Committee, Dr. Ali Al-Hawamdeh, told the Jordan News Agency (Petra), that municipalities cannot combat stray dogs, whether by sniping or poisoning, according to the instructions of the Ministry of Local Administration.
Al-Hawamdeh indicated that the municipality included in its projects the allocation of a plot of land and a veterinarian in order to use it as a center for collecting and sterilizing stray dogs to reduce their breeding, similar to the experiences of the Greater Amman Municipality and some municipalities for this purpose, which is hoped to reduce the spread of stray dogs haunting the population.
