The expert in oil and energy affairs, Engineer Hashem Akl, presented a proposal for the new electricity tariff.
In a post on his Facebook page, Aqel suggested today, Friday, that there be a day and night tariff, and a tariff for holidays and weekends, in addition to a tariff for the summer and another for the winter.
He believed that the tariff should be related to time, “through the daytime (8:00-16:00), evening (16:00-24:00) and nightly (24:00-8:00) periods; This is to encourage consumption outside peak times and to encourage night consumption in light of the low value of the night tariff.
It is noteworthy that the new electric tariff will start to be applied from the first of next April.
The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh confirmed that the plan to regulate the electric tariff aims to direct government support to the Jordanian household subscribers, the temporary passport holders and the people of the Gaza Strip residing in the Kingdom, in addition to reducing the costs of electric energy on many vital economic sectors, which is reflected in on the prices of its services and goods provided to citizens and enhances its competitiveness and ability for sustainable growth and the national economy.
