The Independent Election Commission announced the expiry of the deadline set for the withdrawal of candidates from the provincial council elections, municipal councils and the Amman Municipality Council.

The media spokesman for the commission, Muhammad Khair Al-Rawashdeh, said in a statement today, Monday, that the number of candidates who withdrew from the upcoming elections reached (144) male and female candidates, including (128) males and (16) females. Males, the number of those who withdrew from candidacy for provincial council membership elections (24), including (19) males and (5) females, and the number of those who withdrew from candidacy for municipal council membership elections (65), including (54) males and (11) females, The number of those who withdrew from running for membership in the Amman Municipality Council reached (4) candidates, all of them males, bringing the total number of candidates for the provincial and municipal council elections and the Amman Municipality Council after the withdrawals to (4,647) male and female candidates, including (3801) males and (846) females.

According to Executive Instructions No. (4) of 2021 regarding candidacy for provincial council elections, municipal councils, and the Amman Municipality Council, any candidate may withdraw his candidacy by submitting a written request to the election president fourteen days before the official date. No withdrawal shall be considered for any candidate after the end of this The term, and the Commission shall announce the withdrawal of any candidate in the municipality/electoral district on its website.

It is noteworthy that the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Electoral Commission has set the 22nd of this month as the date for voting for the provincial council elections, municipal councils and the Amman Municipality Council.
