The Compass – The Department of General Iftaa published its answer to the question (Is it permissible to fast the month of Sha’ban and what are the days during which it is not permissible to fast?)

Here is the text of the answer:

Fasting all or part of the month of Sha’ban is permissible by Sharia. When Muslim narrated that the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him: (He used to fast the whole of Sha’ban), agreed upon, but with the exception of allocating the second half of it to fasting, this is forbidden according to Islamic law, because the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: (If half of Sha’ban remained, then fast. ) Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, who said a good talk properly.
An exception to the prohibition here is fasting in certain cases, which are:
First: If a person has a habit of fasting, he should continue his habit, such as the one who used to fast on Mondays and Thursdays, or fast the days of the whites.
Second: Whoever starts fasting in Sha’ban from the beginning, such as fasting days in the first half of Sha’ban and days in the second half of it.
Third: Whoever intends to make up for an obligatory fast, a vow, or an expiation.
Ibn Hajar al-Haytami, may God have mercy on him, said: “These hadiths do not contradict the hadeeth that is forbidden for fasting after the middle of Sha’ban; Because the place of prohibition is for one who fasts after halfway and does not reach it. The place of permissibility, but rather of lamentation, is for one who fasted before half and left after half or continued; But he joined his fast with fasting on the middle day. Or he did not pray it and fasted due to a decree, vow, or vow.” End. Major Fiqh Fatwas (2/ 82). God knows
