Prime Minister Dr. Bishr Al-Khasawneh unveiled this evening, Monday, the Marj Al-Hamam intersection project, marking its opening to traffic.
During a tour of the project, the Prime Minister was briefed on the facilities of the project, which includes a 3-level intersection consisting of a 227-meter-long concrete bridge, a 110-meter-long tunnel within 4 lanes in both directions, main roads with a length of 3 kilometers, and concrete walls supporting the lower corridor with a length of 600 meters. And completely rehabilitating the surrounding roads, in addition to constructing sidewalks, water drainage systems, a rainwater pumping station, lighting works and all public safety works, in accordance with the highest engineering standards. The Minister of Public Works and Housing, Eng. Yahya Al-Kasabi, stressed the importance of this project and its major role in improving road services and infrastructure in Jordan, and alleviating the stifling traffic crises in the vicinity of Marj Al-Hamam and the tourist road leading to the Dead Sea area.
Al-Kasabi indicated that the project is among three intersections projects built with generous grants from the Saudi Fund for Development, and in cooperation with the partners of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, pointing out that the project was built with unique, efficient and loyal Jordanian staff, in partnership with Saudi technical and engineering cadres, with the highest technical and engineering specifications.
He stressed that the Marj Al-Hamam Intersection project is one of the major traffic projects that has brought about a qualitative leap that will contribute to solving traffic crises to facilitate the movement of citizens and their services on the ground, and to translate the work into an achievement, and this is what the master of the country always directs.

Al-Kasabi expressed his thanks to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Saudi Fund for Development for their generous funding of the $20 million intersection project through the Saudi Fund for Development. For his part, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Amman, Nayef bin Bandar Al-Sudairy, stressed that the opening of this project, funded by the Saudi Fund for Development, is an embodiment of the solid relations between the two brotherly countries.
He pointed out that the Saudi Fund for Development is a major development partner that supports the efforts of the Jordanian government, as it has contributed over about 5 decades to support vital projects in Jordan worth about 8 billion Saudi riyals, “and work is underway to implement projects that will soon see the light at a value of about 3 billion Saudi riyals.
The chief engineer of the Saudi Fund for Development indicated that the implementation of the Marj Al-Hamam intersection is an additional step to develop the level of transport services and traffic in the capital, pointing to the vital areas that the Fund has financed their implementation in Jordan in the sectors of transportation, communications, education, health and infrastructure.
