Roscosmos announced that the orbit of the International Space Station will soon be modified.
A statement issued by the Foundation said, “On March 11, 2022, the orbit of the International Space Station is supposed to be modified, and the goal of adjusting the orbit is to create the appropriate conditions for the separation of the Soyuz MS-19 spacecraft from the station to return to Earth, and in preparation for the launch of the Russian Soyuz MS-21 spacecraft. towards it”.
According to the information provided by the Space Ballistics Control Center in “Ross Cosmos”, the orbit adjustment will begin on the said day at 22:15 Moscow time, as the engines of the Progress MS-18 vehicle docked with the station will operate for 252.4 seconds to push the station into space and the altitude will increase. Its orbit is approximately 800 m.
Russian cosmonauts Anton Shkaplerov and Butor Dubrov, NASA astronauts Mark Vande Hay, Raja Shari, Tom Marshburne and Kayla Brown and European astronaut Matthias Maurer are currently on board the International Space Station.
