Foreign Ministry of Representatives to “Jordan News”: There is no danger to Jordanian students in the Ukrainian Sumy

Head of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the House of Representatives, Representative Khaldoun Haina, said that there is no danger to Jordanian students in the Ukrainian city of Sumy, stressing communication with the security authorities in Ukraine and Moscow to secure a safe line to get them out of the city.

Our neighborhood added, in statements to “Jordan News”, that the Ukrainian city of Sumy is witnessing a major conflict between the Russian and Ukrainian parties, which made it difficult to secure a safe line for the exit of all nationalities from the city.

He pointed out that Jordan, through the operations room at the National Center for Security and Crisis Management and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs, has been seeking since Friday to secure the exit of its nearly 120 Jordanian nationals.

Our neighborhood indicated that the follow-up carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its operations room resulted in security coordination with the Russian and Ukrainian sides and the identification of the Jordanians’ locations and addresses to spare them any danger during the confrontations between the two sides.

He denied that Jordanian students are being held in a specific location to be used as human shields, stressing that they are in their places of residence and are constantly contacted until a safe line is secured for their exit from the city.

The Russian Ministry of Defense had revealed that Ukrainian forces were holding more than 7,500 foreign “hostages,” including 245 Jordanians.

The Russian “TASS” news agency quoted a statement by the head of the National Defense Command Center, Mikhail Mizintsev, that the Ukrainian forces are forcibly holding thousands of foreign citizens “hostages” in various Ukrainian cities.
