A specialist in cardiology, arteries, vascular catheterization and networks, Dr. Amr Saeed Rashid, said that the acceleration of the heartbeat may be either normal physiology, or caused by pathological conditions.

Rashid added in a post on his Facebook page entitled “Normal physiological pulse acceleration”: “In physiological cases, the acceleration is always regular and cannot be irregular. If it is irregular, it is definitely not normal.”

He pointed out that “there are many reasons that lead to stimulating the occurrence of regular acceleration, and we note here that in all cases of natural acceleration, the acceleration disappears with the demise of the cause.

Rashid continued: “We mention among the causes of physiological tachycardia:

• Heart acceleration during exercise, whether the effort is during brisk walking or jogging or during any kind of sport.
• Acceleration of the heart during cases of high body temperature resulting from any inflammation in the body.
• Heart racing during feeling of fear and tension.
• Acceleration of the heart during cases of low blood pressure for any reason, such as severe bleeding, or loss of fluid from the body, such as severe coughing or severe vomiting, or cases of blood poisoning and others.
• Acceleration of the heart during the occurrence of any severe pain in the body.
• Acceleration of the heart during cases of anemia in which the blood force is less than 9. Accelerations increase here with light exertion.”

Rashid explained that “all of these cases mentioned lead to regular acceleration that disappears with the demise of the case, and if the acceleration continues after the case has passed, this is not considered normal.”
