The head of the Jordanian Artists Syndicate, Hussein Al-Khatib, called on the concerned authorities to develop a clear plan to support Jordanian artists and dramatic productions.

Al-Khatib said, “The most important problem that Jordanian actors face is not the lack of professional scenarios,” but rather the lack of support. We have hundreds of talented actors and art workers, however, they are not getting the support they need to show their hidden talents.”

Al-Khatib added, “We should get support through a drama board, for example, or a specific entity that should only be interested in drama. The syndicate should also be a member of this council to discuss the problems facing the actors and find radical solutions that contribute to enhancing Jordanian talents and help develop Jordanian drama production.”

In turn, the Jordanian representative, Zuhair Al-Nubani, said that the Jordanian artistic energies are great, and the components of the artistic movement still exist, “but we have an obstacle in managing the artistic field and how to protect and develop our talents.”

Al-Nubani added: “We have wise leadership, distinguished human energies, and a distinguished geographic location. We only need good management. I blame some media for not supporting our talents. Because what we have is an untapped treasure.”

However, Al-Nubani said that he is optimistic about the future, and that Jordan should be able to “present a good management model, and we will succeed in all areas, including the technical field.”

In turn, actress Suhair Fahd said that workers in the Jordanian artistic community are overburdened “because the Jordanian government still does not take art seriously.”

Fahd added that Jordanian artists deserve support and hope that Jordanian drama will be able to compete with drama produced in other Arab countries in the coming years.

And she considered that the Jordanian artist is “frustrated in his homeland, but he receives all support in other Arab countries, and this is unfair and illogical. The artist must have the first and most important support in his homeland. We have great talents who deserve support and I think they have the capabilities required to compete with Arab stars.”

Jordanian artist Rabie Zaitoun said that Al-Khatib has been heading the Jordanian Artists Syndicate for years, but he has not shown full support for Jordanian artists.

He added, “I don’t want to blame him, but I think he should struggle to support artists, come up with solutions and make plans, especially since Jordanian artists have all the elements necessary to succeed and prove themselves in the Arab field. We will not forget that dozens of Jordanian artists succeeded in putting their names in the most important Arab series.”
