A member of the National Committee for Epidemiology, Dr. Bassam Hijjawi, expected the end of the current fourth wave of Corona before the holy month of Ramadan, optimistic about the arrival of a safe summer.

In an interview with Jordan TV, on Wednesday, he explained that the peak of the fourth wave was in the second week of February, and it witnessed the registration of about 23 thousand cases of corona daily, and more than 30% of the positive tests were done.

“In the past and current two weeks, the numbers began to gradually decrease,” according to Hijjawi, who added, “For the first time since the third and fourth waves, the number of Corona patients in hospitals decreased to less than a thousand patients, in addition to the decrease in active cases in home isolation.”

And he showed the decrease in Corona’s numbers from recording 135,000 Corona injuries in the peak week, compared to 116,000 injuries last week, and it is expected that we will not exceed 100,000 injuries this week.

Regarding the occult mutant of the omicron, Hijjawi said that the main reliance on the World Health Organization to talk about what raises concern and suspicious attention, “The cryptic mutant did not reach these indicators, which means that it is part of the omicron and may be more rapidly spreading, but it is not more virulent and severe, and therefore It is treated like an omicron.”

He pointed to three subspecies of the Omicron mutant, but they did not reach the surface to form their own mutations, stressing that there are no new mutations in the world after Omicron.

He pointed out that the countries of the world are signatories to the International Health Regulations agreements that stipulate procedures that facilitate and pass them to the World Health Organization so that they do not pose a danger to any country in the world, noting the possibilities of a mutated or wave occurring in any country, but things are equal under the umbrella of vaccinations and precautionary measures.
